The GAIN4CROPS coordinator joined the Translational Photosynthesis Roadmapping Workshop, held on 4–7 June 2024 at CEA Cadarache, France, co-organized by the CAPITALISE project and the French Groupement de Recherche.
This workshop aimed to chart a strategic roadmap for harnessing photosynthesis innovations to enhance crop resilience, sustainability, and yield, aligning with European societal needs. Representatives from four major European projects—CAPITALISE, PhotoBoost, GAIN4CROPS, and BEST-CROP—joined invited experts, including crop breeders, for this pivotal event. Participants shared research insights through presentations and flash talks during the first two days, laying the groundwork for collaborative discussions on long-term translational goals.
The final sessions focused on formulating a roadmap to guide future research and ensure robust support from policymakers and the European Commission, with the ultimate goal of advancing photosynthesis-driven innovations in agriculture.
